BREAKING NEWS - BREAKING NEWS This year will mark 17 years since the 1992 Outhouse Dedication Ceremonies at America's oldest country store, still in ownership and operation by the same family. The historic '92 event with CHET ATKINS and BILLY EDD WHEELER received not only national recognition when reported on the NBC Nightly News, as well as all other major networks, and reported in USA TODAY and the Associated Press, but reached worldwide audiences when telecast on CNN.

2009 AWARD WINNERS
The GOLDEN THRONE Award for 2009 goes to BOB REYNOLDS OF Nancy, Kentucky. Bob's work and artistry with a camera has captured Great Outhouse Blowout highlights since moving to Kentucky. Bob and his wife Peg are former community members who now reside in Nancy, Kentucky. With Bob's expertise, a "photo finish" is now available after each race ...... And visual highlights and memories from the yearly "GREAT OUTHOUSE BLOWOUT" can be shared with the world.
The 2009 CRESCENT MOON AWARD winner is CAROLYN CRABTREE of Parksville, Kentucky. Carolyn is the one person whose support, knowledge and help consistently over the years has helped make each and every "GREAT OUTHOUSE BLOWOUT" possible. As an integral part of the Danville - Boyle County Convention & Visitors Bureau until her resignation in early 2009, Carolyn always went beyond official duties to extend a helping hand ... and she still is. |

The
2009 MOON &
STARS Award honors one in the entertainment field or the Media field
whose work has brought the outhouse to the public's attention. The
2009 winner is WAYNE WESTERFIELD of Harrodsburg, Kentucky. Wayne
Westerfield was responsible for gathering top musicians and
coordinating the 4 hour concert at the historic 1992 " GREAT OUTHOUSE
BLOWOUT" and privy dedication. World renowned guitarist CHET ATKINS
and singer, songwriter BILLY EDD WHEELER headlined the 4 hour concert
along with other Nashville notables, and Boyle County native Steve
Smothers and the LITTLE SOUTH BAND kept the show moving with
Westerfield's coordination. Knowledge from Westerfield's many years
as a musician and involvement in the entertainment field himself,
proved invaluable in making the historic event a success.
